About Ben Broady

Currently a student at Berklee College of Music studying a dual major of Film Scoring and Composition, Ben specializes in large ensemble writing for orchestra and wind symphony, but more than anything he  loves to create worlds with his music. Growing up with musicians as parents, with a father in choral directing and worship ministry and a mother as a piano teacher, Ben was exposed to music at a very early age. His mother taught him piano basics around the age of 5, and he chose the alto saxophone as his first instrument in 4th grade. He quickly grew in his knowledge and theory of music, eventually picking up the drumset, bass guitar, and learning to sing, and his passion for the art began to grow deep and wide.

During his middle and high school years, Ben was involved in wind bands, marching band, pep band, jazz band, chamber choir, a vocal jazz ensemble, and worship band at church where he served. He was accepted to Berklee College of Music on a full tuition scholarship and began his college career in the fall of 2022. He has since then participated in several choral and instrumental ensembles, as well as his own Christian fusion band he started, and was recently the sole student composer for the Berklee Wind Symphony at their 2024 spring concert. He wrote his first piece for wind symphony, “And So, God Spoke,” a tone poem on the overall themes of the Bible, which he conducted at the aforementioned concert.

Ben has composed for live theatre, and is the musical director for a community theatre company for their summer show. He continues to compose in his free time, performs with local bands, and is highly interested in working with conductors and musicians for film and symphonic projects.
